With ever increasing number of vehicles operating on the roads of Chennai and with an increase in offences committed on the road by the drivers, the Tamil Nadu government has taken stringent action to stop these offences.

List of possible traffic violations and fines in Chennai

A list of possible traffic violations that can be committed on the roads of Chennai and the fine levied for it by the government is mentioned in the table below:

The driver of the vehicle has installed a false meter.If this offence has been committed, the fine to be paid will range from Rs.100 to Rs.300.
The driver of the vehicle is driving the vehicle with one or more passengers travelling in standing position in the front portion of the vehicle.If this offence has been committed, the fine to be paid will range from Rs.300 to Rs.600.
The driver of the vehicle has driven it in a no entry zone.If this offence has been committed, the fine to be paid will range from Rs.2000 to Rs.5000.
The driver is carrying inflammable articles inside his vehicle while driving.If this offence has been committed, the fine to be paid will range from Rs.300 to Rs.600 under section 177.
