Property Agents Review Holland for
Professional Estate Agencies in Netherlands
Why did Holland change its name to the Netherlands?
A2A The ‘Nederlanden’ (Netherlands) was a geographical term, already
used in the early dark ages, to describe an area that stretched from the
present day Kingdom, encompassing Belgium and Luxembourg all the way
down to the north-west of France. Neder-landen litterally means ‘lower
countries’ and the term had no political significance until the
fifteenth century.
The provinces functioned as independent countries, although, through
marriage and inheritance, they fell into the hands of one ruling family.
Holland was just one of those provinces, and not a very important one.
Things changed when Philip the Good, the duke of Burgundy, started a
process of centralization in the low lands and called for a meeting of
nobles that represented the different ‘Netherlands’ in 1463: a so called
‘Staten Generaal*’. The rule of the Burgundy dukes ended in 1482, when
the Habsburg-family took possession of the area.
Rebellions broke out against the rule of the Habsburg-king Phillips II
in 1568, who ruled from Spain, when he tried to take more power from the
autonomous provinces and forced them to crack down on protestants in the
north.
This led to the founding of the ‘Republic of Seven United Netherlands’
in 1588. This new country was explicitly formed in opposition to
centralization and the provinces stayed broadly independent, with the
exception of defense policies. Holland was the most prosperous and
populous province at the time and it dominated the rest of the Republic.
In foreign countries ‘Holland’ became synonymous with the Republic.
Staten Generaal is the name of the Dutch parliament.
In 1813 the republic ended and the Netherlands became a Kingdom,
(briefly encompassing Belgium). To end the dominance of the Holland, the
province was split in two in 1840: Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland, the
provinces that still exist today. Though, Holland is not an independent
country and it doesn't exist.
Holland was never the official name for the entire country.
Confusion continues because: People who live in the Hollands are called
Hollanders, but all citizens of the Netherlands are called Dutch as is
their language. But in Dutch they say: Nederlands sprekende Nederlanders
in Nederland which sounds like they'd rather we call them Netherlanders
speaking Netherlandish.
What do you call the people of the Netherlands?
In the english language the people of The Netherlands are called dutch.
In the dutch language they are called Nederlanders. The people of
Holland are called Hollanders. A lot of people confuse the dutch with
the hollanders, but we as dutch do not mind it much.
The Kingdom of the Netherlands consists of the Netherlands, the
territory in Europe, and 6 Caribbean islands. The European territory is
sub-divided into 12 provinces. Two of these, Noord-Holland and
Zuid-Holland comprise the lands that in earlier days constituted the
province of Holland.
The relationship between the Netherlands and Holland is somewhat similar
to that between the United Kingdom and England. People from one of the
other 10 provinces generally do not like being referred to as
"Hollanders", or the place where they live as Holland in the same way as
Scotsmen or Welshmen don't appreciate being called Englishmen.
How does customer reviews work for a real estate agency?
Have you ever read customer reviews to choose a restaurant where to
dine, or a hotel for your holidays? The answer is 95% yes.
From ratings with Google stars to testimonials that are displayed on
most websites, real estate agencies are beginning to understand the
importance of customer reviews. Indeed, 6 out of 10 French people say
they do not want to consult a real estate agency that does not display
customer reviews! (source: Opinion System-Ifop 2019 study)
While a well-conducted ad can be persuasive, it doesn't compare to
someone who shares their personal experience. So, customer reviews have
become one of the "nerves of war" to win mandates.
Consumers see what the company wants to show when they watch ads but
they are no longer fooled. The reality: Internet users actively consult
the opinions of other sellers to choose the right real estate agency. To
decipher the customer reviews, Meilleurs Agents met with the specialist
of the subject. Jean-David Lepineux, former real estate agent for 12
years and founder of Opinion System. Questions and answers, let's go!
Can you set an online customer review for a real estate agency?
It is a customer feedback. A customer review for a real estate agent is
proof of a real experience during a deed of sale.
